If you must have the softness of a traditional mattress, but also must have the spine of a hard mat, then a memory foam mattress topper provides the perfect middle ground. A memory foam mattress contains pretty much all of the padding and object contouring capabilities of a average mattress, with all the spinal support of a firm floor, since memory foam will shape to your spine.

Its characteristic to become softer with heat and solidify with air circulation regulates how much support your body will receive and which parts of your body. You will notice the best result at the more jutting parts of your body, such as knees, hips, ribs, shoulders, finding not as much pain in the afternoon. You will realize that there will not be as much night soreness - your limbs will be healthier, as your general blood flow will be increased.

Do not purchase the first memory foam mattress you see, keep in mind that not all memory foam mattresses are the same : they vary in thickness, and overall quality. Densities vary from 2.5 pounds per cubic foot to 2 pounds per cubic foot in all cases, and as high as 3.4 or more for some of the premium brands. Denser mattresses are usually to be more costly because more materials goes into them, and because manufacturing them requires a finer science.

Thicker mattresses are firmer and is suited to those who are skinnier with less protruding limbs, while those that are a lot less thick are softer and tend to do a better job at conforming to less curvy body shapes. If you do not tend to move around much while falling asleep, a heavier mattress is ideal. For those who tossle a bit, a less dense mattress is the better choice. Do remember that your tossling may not actually be your normal way of sleeping, but rather a consequence of bad bedding. A heavy weight memory foam mattress – about 2 pounds can accommodate a spectrum of sleepers. high -density memory foam mattresses ( 0.5 - 3.5 lbs per cubic foot) can sometimes give way and usually aren’t worth the discount.

Because memory foam mattresses have gained in increased home use, more comfortable (meaning thicker ) mattresses have become more common. The common memory foam mattresses uses a 2 ” base sections with a few centimeters of material at the bottom for any size, be it twin, full-size, king, or California king. Heavier mattresses have a 3 ” foundation with an extra inch or two of top padding, for a more responsive feel, and these mattresses are the most popular memory foam beds. The top-of-the-line beds also have a 6” base, but include an additional top layering, for best comfort.

Memory foam mattresses are without doubt the most popular product in the industry of mattresses. They relieve the body’s pressure and absorb the body temperature, thereby ensuring sound sleep. However, there are certain myths and misconceptions that continue to prevail amongst consumers over the years. They need to be clarified at first. Most people believe that being sensitive to heat, all visco foams modulate itself according to the body temperature. This statement is partially true because it is usually seen that all visco elastic foams react to temperature. Generally they are viscous at lower temperatures and softer at higher temperatures. However, this statement is only partially true. This because the temperature ranges to which the different memory foams react may not be in accordance to the body temperature of the individual.

Continuing in the same note, viscofoams are of two types: the viscoelastic memory foam that reacts to temperatures much higher or lower than the body temperature, and the other viscoelastic memory foam that is responsive to body heat. However, irrespective of its variety, both types of viscoelastic foam have similar cell structure. This enables viscoelastic memory foams to mould itself to an individual’s body contours. The memory foam mattresses that have the ability to respond to bodily temperature have the advantage of being able to control the body’s temperature. Memory foam mattresses distributes the body weight of the individual lying on it, reduces the pressure points and adjusts itself to support the individual’s body weight and contour.

Tempur-Pedic is undoubtedly the best company manufacturing the best and costliest memory foam mattresses. However, other competitor’s have emerged over the time and are manufacturing memory foams that cost lesser. SelectFoam, Isoform, Bragada, Healthy Foundations are some of the companies that produce standard memory foams. These mattresses are available in different varieties and models. While customers should compare the prices offered by the various companies, they should never opt for extremely cheap ones. Manufacturers adulterate those memory foams by using inexpensive ingredients and even sand as filings. These do not have any of the beneficial qualities of the memory foams.

These unique mattresses were developed the genius engineers of NASA, who were looking to reduce the stress on an astronaut’s body that was caused by the G-force during a spaceship flight. Even though they hit the consumer market in the beginning of the 90s, they began to be used in medical purposes to relax the patient’s body by reducing his pressure points and distributing his body weight. This helped in providing sound healthy sleep. However, it is pertinent to note that memory foam alone is not firm enough to support the entire weight of the body. It has to be used as a topping layer upon a firm material. Last but not the least, consumers should not be swayed by the tall claims made by the numerous companies manufacturing memory foam mattresses. They should first try out by availing of the trial period offer and purchase one only after being satisfied.

Hello,

My name is Bernard and this will be my outlet to sharing my knowledge on mattresses. First a little background information: About 2 years ago, my wife and I started having trouble sleeping after we got our new Serta mattress. It was at that point that I started doing research and looking into mattresses, talking to experts to find out why it was we couldn’t get a good night’s sleep. I discovered that there is a whole variety of different mattress types, brands and sizes to choose from. In retrospect, it’s not that the Serta mattress was bad; it’s just that it wasn’t the right one for us. With this blog, I hope to help people to find the right mattresses for them.

More to come!
